Every Day Should Be Valentines Day

Human as we are, the pursuit of LOVE is ever so constant, and naturally occurring as it’s meant to be. Nicholas Sparks once said, Love is like the wind, You can’t see it, but you can feel it.  Love is in fact,  the single , most powerful, positive and effective, emotion known to mankind. It extracts the best out of humanity.  As a holiday obsessed society, the Love breeze can really be felt mostly around this time of the year. The Global day of romance seems to be that ONE day of the 365 days around the sun when you get to show your notable person how much you love them by buying them gifts and showing some Public Display of Affection. 

Sure; flowers, wine, romantic dinners and candies are gratifying, but if someone means that much to you, then why should you reserve special moments and treats for just that one day of the year? Since it’s a day of LOVE, should the celebration be limited to Romantic love alone? What about platonic love, the love you have for your family? Friends?  – These two out of the Norm Valentine ’s Day perspectives are what we intend to scrutinize quite a bit, in this article.

We also encourage you to be a better human love others and express your love every chance you get as if it were valentine’s day.  In doing so , it becomes a more genuine appreciation for love, rather than an imposed celebration filled with consumerism. Besides, who wants to do the same thing that everyone else is doing anyway? Where is the element of surprise, excitement and mystery when the person is expecting something special to happen because it is valentine’s Day?  Thus; in the spirit of being the BLK SHEEPS that we are, we encourage you to consider the elements above and take a different approach towards valentine’s day. 

Actions after all speak louder than words!!  Therefore the little daily things of love that happen in a relationship are what makes it even more special. Going out of your way to spend your last $$ buying sweets for him/her to make their day, sharing a delicious bowl of soup, getting lost in conversations while talking about everything and anything under the sun, or just a simple phone call in the middle of the day to remind that special friend, sister , partner that you Miss them. These moments are much more worthy than one day full of spending ridiculously on “sometimes pointless” gifts.

Let’s take the concept of valentine’s day and make it a part of our daily lives (except for the excess unnecessary spending, although it wouldn’t hurt once in a while). Naturally occurring to BLK SHEEPS, we by nature tend to do things differently, and for that reason, we neither agree that love should be celebrated only once a year,  nor do we think that Valentine’s day celebration should be for romantically involved couples only. We hope to challenge / more so encourage everyone to make every day Valentine’s day. 

Come to think of it, most people spend a lot of money on Valentine ’s Day because they feel obligated to, and not because they want to express love. Valentine’s day has become some sort of cultural event that plants a certain amount of pressure on individuals to spend hefty amounts on gifts as a form of expression of love. In hindsight, materialistic gifts  are trivial as they in no way adequately measure love, as opposed to having someone who reminds you everyday how much they love you and make it a point to do things in expression of their love and appreciation of you. 

We are in no way knocking V-DAY off, we love, LOVE. So much so, love and Valentine’s day have inspired some awesome BO KRISTO products, t-shirts and garments.  We believe that Valentine’s day is the ultimate reminder that we have an obligation to continuously love ourselves; because who we are is what everyone falls in love with.  Ultimately; We are here as individuals, a brand of apparel for men and women and as fellow BLK SHEPS to encourage you to take the concept of love celebration and run far with it, therefore instead of making V-DAY 2020 another one for the traditions, let us create a love movement.
