Fabric and Technology
FABRIC
100% COTTON
There are numerous fabric options to choose from in the open market. Some of the most common include poly blends (50% cotton/50% polyester), and tri-blends (50% polyester/25% cotton/25% rayon or 50% polyester/37% ring-spun combed cotton/13% rayon). While some of these fabric options may be found among our product categories depending on the cut and style; for the most part we favor 100% cotton. In addition to the comfortable & supper soft qualities of a 100% cotton material, they are tight weaved thus resulting into the most opaque prints without compromising the integrity of the fabric.
POLYESTER BLEND
One of the -be words- common to the BO KRISTO brand is BE BOLD. Actually this is more than a “be word” to us; it’s an attitude – a way of life even. Thus a series of large/all-over print, BOLD DESIGNS are naturally represented throughout our collection. Bringing these to life to the full satisfaction of our customers requires different techniques and yup; you guessed it… different fabric.
First off, all our all-over garments are hand sewn. This alleviate any possibility that there would be any unwanted wrinkles along the printed areas of our designs. This also allows us to perform quality control throughout the entire production process. Specific to T-Shirts/Tanks: Our all-over printed tees and tanks ate sublimation printed to ensure zero fade after washing or overtime. For your satisfaction, our material of choice is an ultra smooth cotton touch polyester fabric. A small percentage of elastane in the fabric composite ensures maximum comfort as the fabric is able to embody your physique, stretch and recover.
TECHNOLOGY
SCREEN PRINTING
Screen printing is the oldest form of image transfer system know globally. The technique dates as early as the 1100s during the Song Dynasty era. However it wasn’t until the 19th Century that silk printing became a global phenomenon as silk mesh became more available for trade. Fast forward a few centuries, screen printing (which used to be a labor intensive process) has been integrated in the digital automation era. However, overall, the process hasn’t changed as it still involves pushing ink through a woven mesh stencil onto fabric. Our very first tee collection used this process and we still use it for many of our products today.
INK-JET TECHNOLOGY
Ink-jet technology has been evolving for over 60 years. Now it is one of the preferred printing technique for a wide variety of products including garments. By the 1980s ink-jets were common in offices however it wasn’t until the early 2000s that it was further developed and encouraged for garment application. By 2005 and several trade shows later, the term DTG – Direct To Garment was common around the fashion apparel industry. Using specialty water-based/ eco-friendly inks; DTG printing allows a printer to directly apply ink onto fabric using ink-jet technology.
We use the latest direct-to-garment (DTG) printing technology throughout our product categories to minimize limitations and to insure that you can enjoy a quality product with the highest possible print detail at an affordable price.
